Since its establishment in 1983, Wilsgård Fiskeoppdrett has been focusing on delivering high quality salmon products and implementing innovative solutions aimed at developing the aquaculture industry. Today, Wilsgård Fiskeoppdrett operates with 10 licences, 4 of which are "green" licenses. Some of the requirements to farm green salmon include: 100 g smolt, sterile and cleaner fish, sea lice skirts, mechanical (non-chemical treatment) and stronger nets. The primary aim of these licenses is to stimulate the use of environmentally friendly technology for commercial use. They are aimed at tackling the main challenges of the industry, such as lice and escapes.
