Ensuring superior quality

Our state of the art salmon filleting and processing plant, Arctic Filet (T-1205), has the capacity to provide both fresh and frozen fillets depending on your needs and specifications. Arctic Filet utilizes a unique superfreeze technology that will deep freeze the salmon very quickly. This ensures that the Villa salmon maintains its taste, texture, mouthfeel and moisture. It also reduces drip loss, which is important for the dining experience as well as the bottom line.

We freeze our salmon quickly at down to -50 degrees Celsius using CO2 as the freezing agent. This is important as it reduces the build-up of large ice crystals in the cells, which means that the cells maintain their structure and holds on to the natural moisture.

And – with frozen raw material your customer can defrost exactly the amount needed when needed. This means reduced waste, which is better for the environment and the bottom line.

State of the art salmon processing

Our processing plant, Arctic Filet, is located in the village of Torsken on the island of Senja in Northern Norway. The plant is situated next-door to the primary processing facility of our partner, Wilsgård Fiskeoppdrett, ensuring access to the freshest raw material available.

At Arctic Filet, vast experience with seafood processing is combined with state of the art processing equipment ensuring innovation and quality as salmon products are being made to customers specifications and shipped to markets around the world.

The product range contains both fresh pre- and post rigor fillets of various trimmings, frozen fillets and frozen portions. All processed and packaged according to customer specifications. 

At Arctic Filet we Superfreeze

Arctic Filet utilizes a unique freezing system for salmon products ensuring better quality and more efficient use of energy. The Superfreeze technology applied uses CO2 as the cooling agent, ensuring that our salmon is frozen extremely quickly at temperatures down to -50C. This is important as a quick freezing process doesn´t allow the formation of large ice crystals in the cells of the salmon that could break the walls of the cells and lead to loss of fluids. This would affect both the taste, mouthfeel and the texture of the salmon. Superfreezing ensures a better quality that is highly appreciated by sushi chefs and anyone looking for salmon portions with a minimum of drip loss.

The Superfreeze process in very energy efficient. Not only do we save time and energy freezing the salmon, but we also capture the excess heat from the process and use it to make warm water for cleaning the plant and to defrost our loading dock. In other words, we use less energy to make a better product with the side effect of making a safer working environment. 

Certifications: ASC, Global GAP, BRC and Kosher. FDA approved.
